Nature Abstracted

Artist Statement:

Nature is more than just leaves on the trees. There are a variety of textures in nature that everyday people fail to notice in its beauty. Presenting this detail in an abstract manner allows for contemplation and the ability to study the repetition and shapes in nature. The repetition found in the textures and lines of tree barks, leaves, grasses, water, clouds, plants, and more natural elements, is what drives the unique foundations of this project. Every day, every hour, and every year, the same elements of nature are left to stand as they are, however while they remain the same, they also change drastically. A tree may never move from where it originally grows, but the appearance or existence of its bark can change daily with the light, or yearly with the passage of weather and time, and yet the same person may see it as the same tree repeatedly. The details of nature often go unnoticed, unappreciated, and to some people, it is deemed as “boring,” “uncompelling,” or “not special enough,” to be noticed, or even photographed for that matter. The goal of this project is to change that. To allow people to “stop and smell the roses.” By studying the natural textures of the world and what nature must show us. People should be able to find a way to simply relax and enjoy something beautiful, and this collection can help to do this.
